It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Irene Hunter of Red Deer at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Monday, November 26, 2019 at the age of 78 years. Jean Irene Hunter was born on 24 July 1941 in Lacombe, Alberta to Eva and Duncan Mellick. Jean grew up in Tees, Alberta. Jean met the love of her life Don Hunter having 5 children together in Red Deer, Alberta. Family always came first to her. She enjoyed camping every summer with her family and friends. She especial enjoyed camping in Banff and Fairmont. Jean loved to have her large family to her house for Christmas every year. More the merrier she believed, she didn’t leave anyone out. She was a great cook and she loved to bake for everyone. Jean would drop everything and help out a friend in need. She never complained about anything. Jean was loved by a lot of people. Jean will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Yvette (Mark) Kalan, son Gary Hunter, daughter Carla Hunter, daughter Donna (Greg) Epp, and son Wes (Carolyn) Hunter; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Jackie Ball and brother Ted (Fran) Mellick; and several nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Don Hunter; granddaughter Sherri Kalan; brother Ross Mellick; brothers-in-law Bob Hunter and Don Ball; sister-in-law Judy Hunter; and nephews Darryl Hunter and Michael Mellick. In following with Jean’s wishes, no service will be held. Memorial donations in Jean’s honour may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Suite 144, Centre 104, 5241 – Calgary Trail NW, Edmonton AB T6H 5G8.
