Jean Beatrice Coley

Jean Beatrice Coley of Red Deer, Alberta passed away April 20, 2022 at the age of 88 years.
Jean led an active life. Born in Cut Knife, Saskatchewan in 1933, she went on to raise a family of seven children with her late husband John. She was a member of the Golden Circle seniors centre, the Urban Aboriginal Voices Society and, with John, the Royal Canadian Legion.
Jean worked in a variety of fields throughout her life. She was a cook for worker camps, a home-care provider for seniors, and a self-employed provider of cleaning services for businesses and private homes.
Jean was also a Roman Catholic who believed in giving back to society. She was proud to volunteer to cook at seniors’ functions. In terms of hobbies, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, plant care, sewing, needlework (including embroidery), and leatherwork and beading, for she became an artisan. She also enjoyed learning the Cree language of her First Nations ancestors.
Jean is lovingly remembered by sons Rene, Rick, Casey and Jason; daughters Bonnie, Connie and Elva; 25 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and sister Marie. She was predeceased by father Peter Landry; mother Genevieve; husband John; brother Philip; sister Marguerite; grandson Mitchell; and granddaughter Jayda.
A Celebration of Life for Jean will be held at First Baptist Church, 4310 – 39 St, Red Deer AB, on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 2:00 pm.
