It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son and brother, Jason R. Givens, on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the age of 42.
Jason was born at Holy Cross Hospital in 1976 in Calgary, Alberta. In Calgary, he attended Central Memorial High School and SAIT, where he received his journeyman plumbing certificate.
Jason is survived by his mother Jacklynn Partington (Parkes); his father Richard (Suzie) Givens; his sisters Teresa (Riley) Loewen, Jennifer (Adam) Gregory, Tamara (Laurence) Wierbos and Stacey (Tim) Footz; as well as his grandmothers Kay Givens of Calgary and Erna Parkes of South River, Ontario, and loving extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his grandfathers Earl Givens of Calgary and Charles Parkes of South River, Ontario.
Jason was an avid motorcyclist. In the summer of 2016, he went on a road trip on his Harley Sportster, driving down the Pacific Coast Highway, a trip he had dreamed of. He also was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying annual trips with his best friend to their favourite hiking spots, especially Lake of the Hanging Glaciers in British Columbia.
Jason’s love for his family and friends was immeasurable and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Bikers Against Bullying.
Condolences for the family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Arrangements in care of Meaningful Memorials Funeral Service, serving Red Deer and all of Central Alberta, 587-876-4944.
