Jason Gregory Lucien passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the age of 59 years.
Jason was born on May 17, 1964 in George Town, Penang, Malaysia. He lived in Malaysia until the age of 4, at which time his parents Peter and Gladys immigrated to Edmonton, Alberta looking for a better life for their family. Jason’s family moved to Red Deer in 1973 where he grew up and went through his formative years competing in debate and speech, reach for the top and tennis.
Jason then moved to Edmonton to attend university where he continued to contribute to debate and speech by volunteering with the Alberta Debate and Speech Association coaching young debaters on the finer points of rhetoric. Jason decided to end his secondary education after obtaining a master’s degree in economics.
Combining his love of rhetoric and business, Jason had a very successful career spanning the establishment of a small business, roles in organizational management in the public and private sector and building of a business consulting practice. In 2008, Jason moved back to Red Deer to be closer to his mother after his father passed away.
Jason’s great sense of humour and gregarious personality allowed him to make life-long friendships. Jason will be remembered for his kind and generous nature, his love of travel and experiencing other cultures and most of all his booming hearty laugh. Jason was predeceased by both his father and mother, Peter and Gladys and is survived by his brother Jamie (Lori) of Edmonton, Alberta.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Parish, 6 McMillan Ave, Red Deer, AB T4N 5X8, at 11:00AM on May 1, 2024. Following mass, the family invites you to join them for a light refreshment and a time of fellowship. Memories may be shared and viewed at www.eventidefuneralchapels.com.
