On the morning of Jan 27, 2024, James (Jim) Henry Baggs passed away at the age of 85 after courageously contending with an ongoing health battle. Jim was born February 21, 1938 in Isle Aux Morts, Newfoundland to James and Edith Baggs.
At the age of 18, Jim enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He enjoyed a long and rewarding career as a radar technician, and retired at the rank of Captain after 32 years of service.
A life-long learner, Jim pursued an Arts degree with a major in history after retiring from his military career. He enjoyed education of all types, and continued to investigate many avenues of interest throughout his life.
Jim was a true outdoorsman, with a passion for hunting, fishing, and camping. He enjoyed sharing this passion with others, especially his children and grandchildren. His family and friends will always enjoy sharing memories of Jim and his outdoor adventures.
In 1958, Jim met the love of his life, Anne Samson, while stationed in Gander. They were married a year later and began the journey of building a family together. Their 64 years together were filled with love, laughter, and special memories with each other and their beautiful family. Family was Jim’s greatest love and pride. Even with six children, his motto was “There is always room for one more!”.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Anne; his six children, Debra, James (Cynthia), Mary (Barry), Linda (Pierre), Edith (Michael), and Darlene (David); 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
