Jack Swain

Jack Swain, a long time resident of Innisfail, passed away peacefully at the Rosefield Centre at Innisfail Hospital on Sunday, June 14, 2020, at the age of 73 years with his daughter by his side.
Jack was born in Innisfail, Alberta on January 14th, 1947, the first of 6 children born to Johnnie and Elaine Swain. He attended Cottonwood school and then later, the school in Innisfail. He was a gifted student and over the course of his school career was moved ahead not one, but two grades before leaving school for work. Jack had a keen interest in animals, cars, the outdoors, and machinery growing up and throughout his life. Jack married Karen Hileman on June 7th, 1969 and they welcomed two children together; Colin Michael in 1971 and Jacquelynn Lisa in 1974. They lived in the City of Calgary for a short time after they were married and then moved back to Innisfail and made it their home. One of Jack’s greatest traits was his work ethic. Over the years, Jack worked in many industries, including oil and gas, seismic exploration, long haul trucking, pipeline, and finally, his true calling of owning and operating his landscaping company, Landmark Enterprises out of Innisfail.
He is survived by his daughter Jacqui and her husband Cam, brother Allan (Linda), sister Rosalie (Al), sister Shirley, and his youngest brother and best friend Gibson. He is also survived by brother-in-laws Russell, Stan, Don, and Richard, sister-in-laws Myra, Janice, Leslie, and Kathy, as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews and family friends. He was pre-deceased by his sister Marsha, son Colin, his father Johnnie, his mother Elaine, wife Karen and mother-in-law Muriel Hileman.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a Private Graveside Service will be held. For those that would like to watch Jack’s Graveside Service via Live Stream on Facebook it will be on Parkland Funeral Home – Blackfalds, Eckville & Red Deer’s page. June 24, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.
