Irene Skaaning

Irene Skaaning of Red Deer, passed away peacefully at the Lacombe Hospital at the age of 99 years. Irene was born in Copenhagen Denmark on July 30th, 1924. Irene and her husband immigrated to Canada in 1950. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved her family deeply. Irene loved animals and had a very special fondness for cats. She enjoyed working on her many handicrafts such as cross-stitch, knitting and hardanger. Through the years she won countless awards for her outstanding handicraft work. Irene will be very deeply and sadly missed but lovingly remembered and forever cherished in the hearts of her loving family and dear friends. Irene leaves to mourn her loss, her daughters Anne-Lise Skaaning of Delia, Linda (Kevin) Leslie of Cochrane, and her sons, Jack Skaaning of Texas, U.S.A., Ken (Darlene) Skaaning of Lacombe, Bob Skaaning of Red Deer, and Kurt Skaaning of Calgary, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Aage in 1999, her brother Bendt in 1982, her father Hans in 1963 and her mother Tulle in 1929.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alberta Children’s Hospital or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
