A man who loved the lord and loved his family.
Don was born in Smeaton Saskatchewan, he moved to Parkhill Ontario with his family and in his late teens enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He proudly served his country in the Korean war as a member of Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. On returning home from Korea Don attended a Church in Thedford Ontario with his grandmother. This was where he met his first true love, Elizabeth Campbell. They were married and enjoyed 54 years together as parents and best friends. They moved to Bentley Alberta in 1961. Don worked for many years as a consultant and business owner in construction, oil, gas and mining. He loved everything about Gods creation, this passion took him on many adventures, prospecting, gold mining, hunting and fishing were favourite past times and all were enjoyed best when a dog was along for the adventure. His love for animals especially his beloved dogs gave insight into the heart of a man that was a loving husband and father with a deep love for God’s word and his Lord and Saviour. His love and devotion to Elizabeth was demonstrated in his constant care for her during a long battle with Alzheimer’s that saw her go to be with Jesus in 2011. In 2013 Don found love and friendship again with his wife Della. They both shared a deep love for the Lord, passion for prayer and family, always generous to those in need. His final years were not easy as he battled cancer but he did so without complaint always giving thanks for Gods faithfulness to him and his family.
Don was predeceased by his first love Elizabeth MacGregor, his parents Archibald and Mary Jane, his brothers William, David, Gary, Robert and Sister Marcia. He is survived by his dear friend and wife Della, sons Daniel ( Anna) , Cameron ( Eileen) , Shauna (Les) 6 grand Children , 11 Great grand Children, Sister Lilian Brother Leonard (Jackie) and Glen.
