In Loving Memory of Brenda Lee Mantle (née Schiewe)
August 30, 1964 – November 5, 2025
It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Brenda Lee Mantle (née Schiewe) lovingly known as BB or simply B on November 5, 2025, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, at the age of 61.
Born and raised on a farm in Edmonton, Alberta, Brenda learned early, the value of hard work, determination and most importantly, family. With a sharp mind for numbers and a generous heart, she built a career that reflected both intelligence and compassion, working in accounting, the nonprofit sector, and, most recently, at the campground she cherished, her happy place.
Brenda was one of a kind and the glue that held her family together. Selfless, funny, and always giving, she was constantly putting others first. Her door was open to all, her home always full of laughter, and she had a way of bringing everyone together, making sure no one was left out, especially during the holidays.
Her favorite role in life was GMA, hands down. Her grandkids were her pride, her joy and what made her happiest. Her golden rule was simple: What happens at GMA’s, stays at GMA’s. Fudgsicles for breakfast were always a given, paired with endless spoiling, and a little bit of magic only GMA could bring.
Smart, confident, and beautifully blunt, Brenda never shied away from saying what others only thought, and everyone loved her for it. She met life’s challenges with grace, grit, and a touch of humour. No matter what cards she was dealt, she never complained; she simply carried on, stronger than ever.
She loved camping, rock music, concerts, getting her hair and nails done, her TV shows (she always knew the best ones to watch), and, most of all, spending time with her family and friends. She treasured the simple things, campfires, laughter, and the people she loved most gathered close.
Brenda was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Lorraine (née Miller) Schiewe; her sister, Debbie Colburn; her uncle and Godfather, Ken Miller; and her mother-in-law, Pam Mantle. She will be forever loved and deeply missed by her husband of 36 years, Bob; her children, Christopher (Angela) and Lorraine (Tyler); her beloved grandchildren, Jayden, Karter, Mckenzie, and Alina; her sister, Bev (Joe); her brother, Greg (Margie); her aunt and Godmother, Jean; her father-in-law, John Mantle; and many extended family members and lifelong friends.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff who showed kindness and care to Brenda and her loved ones during her time in hospital.
Brenda lived life on her own terms: with love, honesty, and a little rock and roll. She told it like it was, stood up for what she believed in, and made sure those she loved knew it. Her strength, humour, and heart will live on in everyone lucky enough to have known her.
True to her nature, Brenda made her wishes known, she didn’t want a funeral; she wanted a party. A celebration filled with laughter, music, and stories that capture the incredible woman she was. The family will gather at a later date to honour her life in exactly that way. Details will be shared once arrangements are made.
