Ida Doreen Gillespie (nee Boyd) passed on August 23, 2022 in Wetaskiwin AB at the age of 88.

Predeceased by her husband, Chuck, she will be lovingly remembered by her children: Holly (Doug), Rod (Jane), Brent (Sandra), Gayle (Dennis), Scott (Karen); grandchildren: John, Gary, Jessica, Meagan, Brontë, Lachlan, Sheryl, Christopher, Jonah, Tate; and great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Abbey, Avery, Atticus, Hannah, Kailee, Grayson, Owen.

Doreen had a great career at Co-operators in Red Deer for many years and after her retirement, she focused on her first and foremost passion: her family. Although spread across Canada, she loved when everyone would come together at home and banter about who was the favourite child and who caused the most trouble. The laughter and joy those moments created displayed the love in the Gillespie household – fun, kind, giving and open. Doreen was the greatest grandma or GG a child could have. The Christmas baking, the babysitting and the warmth of her hugs meant the world to everyone feeling her love.

Doreen and Chuck are now together after so many years apart.

A private memorial and internment will take place in the fall.
