Holly Donna Shields

1959 – 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Holly Donna Shields (nee MacDonald) announce her passing on November 14, 2023, at the age of 63 years. Holly was born December 29, 1959, in Red Deer where she grew up, created a loving family, and maintained a career with Wawanesa Insurance for over 30 years.

Holly is lovingly remembered by her children Ryley Shields and Shelby Shields (Dustin); her sweet grand-puppy Luna; and her four siblings. Also left to cherish Holly are numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, close friends, and her chosen children.

Holly was predeceased by her father Alex MacDonald, mother Nettie MacDonald, and brothers Doug and Gerry MacDonald.

After retirement, Holly found herself in one of her favourite places, working part-time in the kitchen at Roundabout Eatery where she created special bonds with her work family who loved her dearly. All those who knew Holly would describe her as steadfast yet generous, loving, and there for you in any time of need. She was a mama-bear for anyone who needed her. She was and is loved beyond measure.

A service will be held at the Sylvan Lake Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 28^th, at 1:00pm. A luncheon will be held at Roundabout Eatery following the service for those who wish to attend.

Memorial donations may be made in Holly’s memory to the Canadian Mental Health Association.
