Hilda “Inez” Jacobson (Hunt)
January 20, 1933 – March 20, 2023
Inez passed away March 20, 2023, in Red Deer at age 90. She was born on the family homestead near Lintlaw, Sask. She was the second youngest of nine children. Inez was always very independent and of strong character. These qualities benefitted many throughout her career as a Health Care Aide, and all those who knew her – never selfish, always giving. She married Henry Jacobson on March 21, 1955. Due to Henry’s job, they moved several times where Inez would embrace and adapt to her new community.
Inez enjoyed socializing. She was a volunteer; made quilts for the Women’s shelter, was a Lioness and drove for the blind. She had a keen ear for music and loved a good laugh. She was an avid sports fan, following curling, hockey, NASCAR and especially the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Other interests included true crime and history.
As Inez’s health and eyesight declined it became difficult for her to engage in the things she enjoyed. She was always busy with crafts, crocheting, sewing and creative home reno projects. She expressly missed being able to read. Her greatest passion was spending time with her immediate and large extended families. Always loved and now missed are her dry sense of humour, sharp wit, and frank observations.
Inez was predeceased by her husband Henry (1932-2013) and is survived by daughter Moreen Dupuis (Brad), son Bruce (Teresa Neuman), grandchildren Shaye Dupuis (Trueman), Dayne Dupuis, Elizabeth Jacobson (David Luchenski), Charles Jacobson (Katie), and great-grandchildren Thalia, Tobin and Dasha Luchenski.
To honour Inez’s wishes, a small private gathering will be held. Donations in memory of Inez can be made to the SPCA. Condolences may be left for the family at www.eventidefuneralchapels.com
