Harold Sam John Sande
Born January 18, 1945 and passed away on April 22, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Harold Sande, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather; announce his passing at the age of 79.
Harold was born on January 18, 1945 in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. His family moved from the farm to Edmonton, Alberta when he was 10 years old where he finished his schooling. He attended Olds College and obtained his agriculture diploma.
He met Barbara Storey in Red Deer and they shared 57 loving years together. They settled in the Millet/Wetaskiwin (Pipestone) area for most of their married life. For retirement, they purchased a RV and spent 10 years prior to COVID residing in north Florida for the winter and in Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Alberta for the summers. They are grateful for the Florida friends that became their winter family.
Harold lived a full life and was always there to help someone in need. He had numerous careers where he was able to share his skills and expand his knowledge. He was a rancher, auctioneer, business owner, ag equipment dealership manager, aircraft refueler, trucker, carpenter, and a Florida train engineer.
Harold is survived by his wife Barbara; son Darryl (Danielle) of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan; daughters Nicole Sloas (Alan) of Chesley, Ontario; Laura McIntyre (Keith) of Vulcan, Alberta; six grandchildren: Dylan and Raelynn Sande, Sophia and Caleb Sloas, and Lane and Dustin McIntyre; two great grandchildren: Brynlee and Nixon McIntyre; brother David (Barb) Sande of Sherwood Park, Alberta; sister Agnus Critchley (Ian) of Spruce Grove, Alberta; stepbrother Ed Wood and stepsister Jackie Harke of Drayton Valley, Alberta; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Janet Sande, sister Helen, and stepmother Margaret Wood-Sande.
In lieu of a service, Harold spent his last two years visiting with family, friends, and getting reacquainted with several cousins.
The family would like to thank the nursing and care aid staff at the Red Deer Hospice for their compassionate care during his final journey, as well as The Venerable Noel Wygiera of St. Lukes Anglican Church for his support and final blessing.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Red Deer Hospice Society in Harold’s name. Condolences may be made to the family by visiting www.eventidefuneralchapels.com
