Reta was predeceased by her father William Sentner and mother Margaret Coles and husband Walter Paul Gutsch. Reta will be loving remembered by Linda (Bill), Pat (Kelly), Bill (Donna), Cheryl (Bill), Jackie and David. Grandchildren: Melissa (Michael), Lyndsay, Marissa, Jessica, Kyle, Matthew and Paul. Great-grandchildren: Emma, Quinn and Dylan.
Reta was born in Summerside, P.E.I. She was the great granddaughter of George Coles , Father of Confederation and three times Premier of Prince Edward Island. As a young woman she ventured to Ottawa where she started a career as a baker and met her future husband Walter. As a military wife she resided throughout Canada and Europe. Reta loved being involved in the community helping with Brownies, Cubs, Scouts, school activities, Salvation Army and Bibles for Missions to name a few. Reta welcomed any adventure and embraced it wholeheartedly. Her heart and soul were uplifted by the love of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. No one could take a small moment and turn it into a memorable one like Reta.
We’d like to thank Dr. Susan Konynenbelt for the kindness and respect you’ve shown Reta over the years and in the end. Our family truly appreciated the compassion and care.
We are deeply grateful for the compassionate staff at Red Deer Hospice Society for allowing Reta to pass with grace and dignity. This was her wish and as a family we were able to grant it. We would gratefully appreciate any memorial donations on behalf of Reta to be made to the Red Deer Hospice Society of Red Deer.
The memorial will be held at the Red Deer Funeral Home on February 2, 2018 at 2pm. Following Reta’s service, there will be a time of fellowship and refreshments to follow.
A colourful celebration of life will be held at the Red Deer Legion February 2, 2018 at 7pm
