Gordon McLeod

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon McLeod peacefully at home on Saturday, Feb 22, 2020 at the age of 88.
Gordon was born May 16, 1931 in Marcelin, SK and grew up on the family farm with his six brothers and sisters. In his early years he worked as a banker, then a surveyor before starting a job with Texaco. He married Gwyn on May 19, 1956 in Edmonton and their daughter Beverly was born there. They moved to Red Deer in 1961 and in 1962 their daughter Marnie was born. In Red Deer he started a successful oilfield hauling company called M & M Truck Service and later McLeod Tank Rentals. He also took great pride in mixed crop farming on the land they owned. In later years he and Gwyn enjoyed many winter golf trips and travel in the southern United States.
Gordon was a long time member and past president of the Red Deer Golf & Country Club. He was also a former member of the Rotary Club and a member for many years of the Oilfield Technical Society. He was an avid bowler, curler and bridge player.
Gordon will be sadly missed by his family, Beverly (Rod) McWilliam, Marnie (Andy) Miller, grandchildren Allison (Tim) Wilson, Christine McWilliam, Andrew McWilliam, Amy Miller, John Miller and great grandchildren Abby, William and Harry. Gordon is also survived by 3 sisters in law, Joan, Reta, Pat and a brother in law Ted, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years Gwyn, his brothers Rod, Derril, Ian and Keith, his sisters Valerie and Doreen.
A come and go celebration of Gordon’s life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at The Red Deer Golf & Country Club (4500 Fountain Drive, Red Deer, AB) from 1-4 pm.
