Gordon Leslie Johnson of Red Deer AB passed away on March 13, 2026, at the age of 94 with his loving wife, Mary, by his side.
He was born on September 12, 1931, in Winnipeg, Manitoba to William Penn Johnson and Elizabeth Mable Johnson (nee Gill). Gordon was hard-working and motivated as a young man and obtained a Mechanical Engineering Degree in May 1954 from the UofM. He had an exemplary career at T.C.A. and Standard Aero Engine in Winnipeg as well as Parlor Equipment and Rockwell International in Vancouver/Calgary.
He married his first wife Marion Floy Fletcher on April 3, 1955 and had 3 children, Bruce, Wendy and Brenda. They raised their children and enjoyed traveling. Gordon and Floy were divorced in 1994.
Several years later, Gordon met Mary Bedard and they were wed in May 1998. Gordon and Mary had many wonderful years together enjoying tending to an amazing garden filled with flowers and apple trees, pattern dancing, building puzzles, playing cards and volunteering at St Mary’s Catholic Church.
Gordon will be lovingly remembered for his quick wit and one-line jokes, his amazing singing voice and his love of family.
Gordon is survived by his wife Mary and his 3 children, Bruce (Rebekah), Wendy and Brenda, 6 grandchildren, Nathan (Adrian), Joel (Rieko), Erika (Adam), Rebecca (Joshua), Ethan, and Monika) as well as 3 great granddaughters, Elysabeth, Marianna, and Katelijne. He will also be lovingly remembered by Mary’s 3 children, Janet Stadnyk (John), Denis Bedard and Terry Bolen (Terence) as well as her 6 grandchildren (Mathew, Leighton, Meredith, Riley, Bennett and Claire).
Gordon was predeceased by his parents, his 3 sisters, Doris MacDonald (Jack), Lorna MacDonald (Gordon) and Winnefred Mackenzie (Eric) and his ex-wife.
Gordon spent his final years in Timberstone Mews, Red Deer and was well liked by all. Special thanks to the staff at Memory Cottage as well as Supportive Living for their excellent care.
