1941-2023
Mrs. Gloria Ellen Vander Leek of Red Deer was granted fullness of life at the age of 81, with family by her side on Sunday, February 12, 2023.
Gloria was born in Mrs. Trimble’s Nursing House on Highway 11 on May 22, 1941. She was the first of twin girls, a surprise to their mom.
She will be forever remembered by her three children: Donna (Tim) Warner of Airdrie; Shirley (Roger) McAllister of Red Deer; Richard (Wilma) Vander Leek also of Red Deer; her nine grandchildren: Miranda (Kevin) Bass, Michael (Tara) Warner, Lisa (Grant) Dutchak; Adam (Anna) McAllister, Vanessa (Brandt) Trimble; Matthew (Stephanie) Vander Leek, Justine (Andrew) Bromley, Karissa (Andrew) Johnson, Brayden (Katrina) Vander Leek; and 23+ great grandchildren.
Gloria was also survived by her sister, Marjorie (Lee) Patjas; twin sister, Gladys (Ed) Bolton; and sister-in-law, Greta (Frits) Hoogland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gloria was predeceased by her parents, Leonard and Ida Bystrom; her husband Casey Vander Leek; her brother Lloyd and sister-in-law, Kay Bystrom.
We are very grateful to Aspen Ridge Revera – Memory Care – for the love and care they gave Gloria during her time there.
Gloria will be remembered for her gift of hospitality, her gift of cooking great meals, her love for her children and grandchildren and her faith in Jesus Christ.
A memorial service will be held at CrossRoads Church Sanctuary on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 1:30 PM
