It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Gladys Elizabeth Harrison (MacLeod) on May 17, 2021 at the Rosefield Centre in Innisfail, AB at the age of 82.
Gladys was born in Tisdale, SK to Nathaniel and Iris MacLeod. She had three siblings: Connie, Ken, and Mel. Gladys was predeceased by her parents, her siblings and her husband of almost 60 years Merle (2017).
Gladys and Merle lived in Stettler, Red Deer, Slave Lake, High Level, Whitecourt and retired in Red Deer. Gladys was involved in Oil Wives and enjoyed golfing and playing cards. Her hobbies were sewing and other handicrafts. She was a wonderful cook and hosted many large family get-togethers. She was proud to be in business as co-owner of J. Chocolate and Wedding Chimes and liked meeting with brides and putting her artistic flair to work on bouquets, centerpieces, etc.
Gladys and Merle enjoyed camping and their travels to BC, SK and the US. They especially enjoyed their annual getaways to their villa at Fairmont Hot Springs. Many fond memories were made there with friends and several generations of the family.
Gladys is survived by her children Ron (Carla) Harrison, Wanda (Bert) Eshpeter, Rick (Jeannette) Harrison, and Wendy (George) Andrea. She will be missed by all those who called her Nan: Jessica, Lyndsay, Brendin, Terra, Derek, Shawn, Natasha, Kaiden, and Madison as well as her thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by Merle’s siblings: Ed (Laura), Mary, Ruth (Jeff) and many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the staff at Rosefield Centre for the wonderful care they gave Gladys over the last year and a half. It is greatly appreciated.
A family graveside service will take place at a later date. Condolences to Gladys’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net.
