George "Derry" Runnells

George “Derry” Runnells of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on Monday, January 20, 2020 at the age of 86 years.
Derry spent most of his life in Montreal and Halifax before moving to Calgary in 1996 and then Red Deer in 2013. He loved cars and was an avid reader and history buff. He also enjoyed cats and watching UFC fights.
Derry was an avid family man. He loved his wife, Lynn, beyond words. He cared about everyone and had the gift of making people laugh and imparting useful words of wisdom and advice. Patient, loving and kind, Derry will be greatly missed.
Derry is lovingly remembered by his wife, Lynn; son Alan Runnells (Sherry) and daughter Karen Runnells; special son Lyle Scoble (Carrie Lou); stepsons Derek Trask (Tammy) and Kevin Scoble (Angela); three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brother Vern Runnells (Leona); cousin Rob Walker (Emily); and numerous other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Derry will be held Sunday, February 2, 2020 at 1 pm at Pioneer Lodge, 4324 – 46A Ave, Red Deer AB.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 Arnot Avenue, Red Deer AB, T4R 3S6.
