Geoffrey James Thompson passed away peacefully on June 21, 2022 at the age of 95 with his family by his side. Geoff was born to Herbert and Eleanor Thompson on May 15, 1927 in the family farm house near Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
They resided on the family farm in the Qu’Appelle Valley which Geoff eventually took over. It was also there that he met his future wife Eileen and they married in 1953 and had three sons.
After many years of drought and poor crops Geoff packed up his family and headed west for a better life. They settled in the Joffre area in 1960 which is where he successfully farmed for 62 years. Geoff semi-retired from farming and moved several times before finally moving into a retirement home in red deer last year.
Geoff was an avid outdoors man spending countless hours hunting, fishing, boating and camping with family and friends.
Geoff is survived by his three sons, Larry (Val) Thompson, Greg (Janice) Thompson, and Brent Thompson all of the Joffre area. He’s also survived by 8 grandchildren Angela (Kevin) Tomyn, Chantell (Mike)Tindal, Cody Clarke, Rochelle Currie, Laura (Matt) Pauly, Travis (Victoria)Thompson, Jade Thompson and Nicole Thompson; as well as five great grandchildren Leah Sorenson, Alyssa Tomyn, Lucas Tomyn, Quinn Eileen Pauly and Lane James Thompson. Geoff was predeceased by his beautiful wife Eileen Thompson in 2004 and his sister Joan Thompson in 2020.
