APRIL 28, 1927 – FEBRUARY 3, 2019

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Francis Shantz. Francis passed away in Red Deer on Sunday, February 3 with her family at her side.

Born in Prud’homme, Saskatchewan, she moved to the Carstairs, Alberta area at the age of 16. Here she met her husband, Donald Howard Shantz. They lived and raised their family in Calgary and since 1962 lived in the Hespero and Alhambra area.

Francis is survived by three daughters, Beverley Gallant, Patsy Petropoulos and Cindy Burgess; three grandchildren, Peter ( Connie), Bruce (Jaymee) and Bonnie; and six great-grandchildren, Katelyn , Landon, Brooklyn, Brody, Lukas and Donovan. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Howard Shantz, in 2003; daughter Merle Shantz in 2008; and son Elmer Shantz in 1974.

Memorial donations may be made to the Red Deer Lending Cupboard (#1-7803 50 Avenue, Red Deer).

A funeral service will be held at the Evergreen Catholic Church in Hespero on Saturday, February 9 at 1:00 pm.
