Faye Ann Visser (nee Medgin)
May 8,1950 – June 28, 2023
Faye Ann Visser (nee Medgin) passed away peacefully at Red Deer Regional Hospital June 28 ,2023 after a courageous battle with COPD and cancer with her youngest daughter and dear friends Mary and Bill Cavanagh by her side.
Faye will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 46 years, Peter T. Visser; daughters, Danika Visser (Kurtis Applekvist), Amber Visser-Sieben (Chris Ramsay); grandchildren, Kearra Laycock (Cody Derocher), Dylan Laycock, Zander Applekvist, Jakob Sieben and William Sieben; great grandson, Everrett Oakley, brother Frank (June) Medgin; brothers in-law Sam, (Suz) Visser, Edward (Michelle Griffiths) Visser; sister in-law, Tena (Terry) Griffin; many nieces, nephews; her “adopted kiddos” and dear friends.
She is predeceased by her by parents William and Catherine Medgin, brothers in-law, Harold Visser and Michael Visser; nephew Jason Medgin, niece Lisa Visser; Father and Mother in law, Teake and Dejte Visser; great grandson, Jamison Jackson; and dear friend Ralph Culshaw.
Faye grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, and at the age of 16 years old she set to pursue her Hairdressing licence. She had a lengthy career managing a hair salon with her dear friend Ralph for 15 years in Edmonton before retiring from that career to move out of the big city to start a family with the love of her life Peter T. Visser.
Faye and Peter met at a truck stop during her waitressing days. It wasn’t love at first sight, they met a few times and when Faye finally said yes after several askings from Peter and she said, ” I’m here for a good time, not a long time.” Well that wasn’t true. They welcomed two daughters Danika Dawn in 1978 and Amber Nicole in 1982 and were married for 46 years.
Faye was a loving mama bear, taking all those kiddos near her under her wing as her own. She shows her love by filling your belly with good Ukrainian cooking and the best hugs. Faye made huge impressions on all those she loved.
Faye will be missed by many, but forgotten by none. May you dance in the sky watching over us mama bear.
