JOHNSON
1923 – 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Evelyn Louise Johnson (nee Biswanger) at Bethany Sylvan Lake on December 23, 2017 at the age of 94 years after a bit of an up-hill journey with congestive heart failure and dementia…. she was always determined to conquer both. Evelyn was born in the Aberdeen District near Innisfail, Alberta in June of 1923 along with her twin sister Elsie. Evelyn will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughters Virginia Parsons, Louise (Jim) Smith, Bernice (Butch) Smithman and son Don (Verna) Johnson; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. She was always so proud of all of us and the paths we had chosen. She will also be missed by her wonderful sister Kit Lightbourn and brother Verne Biswanger as well as many friends and relatives. Evelyn was predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years Ernie Johnson (2010). She loved him forever. The one death that left mom so sad was that of her twin sister Elsie Belich (1974). Mom loved life and enjoyed every minute of it tending to her beautiful flower beds, to her hunting and fishing and camping trips she so enjoyed. Above all was the love for her family…. spending time with us whenever she could. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to the wonderful staff at Bethany Sylvan Lake for their love and kindness of taking care of mom over the last couple of years. A celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held at the Deer Park Alliance Church, 2960 – 39 Street, Red Deer AB on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so between 10 am and 10:50 am prior to the service.
