It is with a heavy heart that I said goodbye to my mother on Christmas Eve.
She was my inspiration these past few years going through cancer surgery and then re-diagnosed with cancer. She was courageous, accepting, and never lost her sense of humour or complained throughout it all.
She was a divine light even in the most challenging of times. People she met felt her loving, accepting and compassionate heart. She was such a creative, vibrant, determined, humorous and generous-spirited soul.
She had so many talents, such as cooking, baking, gardening and sewing, and completed many home renovations over the years. She always loved her home and managed to live by herself right up till 90 years of age, even planting a garden at age 89! She always said “where there’s a will, there’s a way.” She amazed me at some of the things she did well into her 80s. Independence, determination and courage kept her radiance until cancer took over her body.
I will miss you deeply and may your beautiful spirit soar high! You will be in my heart forever, Mom.
Thank you for all the compassionate care of the Hospice staff in Red Deer. You all helped make her transition easier for both of us.
