Ernest Joseph Richard
November 4, 1949 – May 27, 2026
Ernie was born in Pictou, Nova Scotia, the son of Albert Joseph Richard and Edmée (née LeBlanc). He is survived by his loving wife Donna (née Turnbull), his son Craig, one grandson and one granddaughter; extended family and friends. Ernie was predeceased by his son Chad, his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Ernie was a quiet man with a great sense of humour. I have received many comments about his warmth and kindness. He was a journeyman pipefitter and worked in Nova Scotia, Ontario, New Brunswick, and the last almost forty years working at the Nova plant in Joffre for the company originally called Quinn Contracting. ‘Ern’ was a good golfer, learned and enjoyed the game originally at the Pictou Harbour Golf Club and played until recently.
He enjoyed helping his sons and other young men when they had a DeMolay Chapter in Red Deer for a few years. He later joined Beacon Lodge No. 190 AF&AM. He was a member of Venus Chapter No. 2, Order of the Eastern Star in Red Deer.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 12, 2026 at Knox Presbyterian Church, 4718 Ross Street, Red Deer.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Ernie.
