Erling Johannes Jensen
August 5, 1938 – June 25, 2022
83 Years old
Peacefully on June 25, 2022, Erling passed away at Red Deer Regional Hospital, surrounded by family. He was predeceased by his parents, Ingemann & Erna, his first wife Beverly and his brothers Leo & Gunnar. Erling will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marie, her children, and grandchildren, his brothers Paul & Norm, and their families as well as many other Nieces & Nephews.
Erling was born in Innisfail, AB August 5, 1938. He worked from a very early age on the family farm, then on to the Alberta rigs, Alpha Plant, as well as many odd jobs with his brother Gunnar & of course his maintenance position at the Parkland Mall. Even after he retired you would find him, almost daily, in the food court enjoying coffee with his friends! Erling enjoyed going to church and loved any family get togethers, especially when he would get his traditional Danish purple cabbage dish & æblekage (Danish Apple Cake)!! He had fond memories of his time in Denmark visiting family and often dreamt of returning.
Erling loved many hobbies throughout his lifetime such as woodworking, collecting & especially music! From a young age he and his brothers played music & sang at many family & church events. Erling could play many instruments such as the steel guitar, Hawaiian Mandolin & of course his favorite, the Banjo! Erling continued playing his banjo throughout the years in various small bands in the community, such as Church bands, Country Gentlemen, Saddle Pals and more.
He was well known for his kindness, his friendly and happy nature, and he would help anyone in need. He was truly a gentle soul and always had a smile on his face! Erling will be deeply missed by all who were privileged to know him. Erling was a very faithful religious man, and he will be at peace, smiling down on us from Heaven!
