Elmo Eugene Johnson passed away peacefully at Red Deer Regional Hospital on April 17th, 2022, at the age of 94, with family at his side.

Elmo was born on June 17th, 1927 in Cereal, Alberta, where the family farmed until the drought and Great Depression forced them to abandon their farm. They moved to Benalto, Alberta where Elmo went to school up to grade 9. At the age of 16, he began his 42-year career with CPR.

On November 10th, 1951, Elmo married Alma Lilly and they enjoyed over 70 years together. Shortly after their marriage, Elmo and Alma moved to Penhold, where they resided for 70 years, raising their 5 children. Elmo was very active in the community, volunteering his time up into his 80’s. After Elmo retired, he became a passionate gardener, hiker, and traveller.

Elmo will be greatly missed by his wife Alma; his 3 sons Brian (Janice), Craig (Dawn), Bob (Petra); his 2 daughters, Deb (Russ), Rhonda (Mike); his 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 22nd, 2022 at 2 pm, at the Penhold Seniors Drop-in Centre – 3001 Minto Street, Penhold, Alberta.
