Ellen Elsie Siebold (Nee: Lyness)
Ellen passed away on January 1st, 2025 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s.
Born September 30th, 1935, she was the only child of Elmer and Elsie Lyness.
She is survived by her children: David Siebold (Ponoka), Donna (Rick) Greenwood (Clearwater BC), Michael Siebold (Red Deer). Grandchildren: Amber Murphy, Travis Siebold, Casey Siebold, Rikie Greenwood, Rocky Greenwood, and Zachary Hamil. Great Grandchildren: Stacey Murphy, Jaekob Greenwood, Chloe Rowland and Ashton Greenwood. Sisters’ in-law Ella May (Graham) Harper (Ottawa, ON), Lynn Siebold (Lake Country BC) several nieces and nephews and long-time dance partner Clifford Sick (Red Deer).
Ellen was pre-deceased by her father Elmer Lyness, her mother and stepfather Elsie and Frank Wimmer, husband Lloyd Siebold, eldest granddaughter Jerrilyn Seibel, great grandchildren Rebbeca and Anthony Smith and her eldest daughter Shirley Bullock.
Mom was a full-time homemaker, gardener and busy volunteer with the South Hill Community Association. She was the full-time employee in a home-based business that she and Lloyd operated until his passing, when she closed the business and retired. In retirement she continued her volunteer work with the Heart and Stroke Fund and the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary. Retirement gave her time to enjoy her two favorite hobbies. She loved to dance, and she loved to travel. She made a couple of trips to Australia and New Zealand and countless bus and train trips in Canada and the U.S. For many years she was seldom home. Developing Parkinson’s changed all aspects of her life, but the loss of independence was the most difficult adjustment, and she spent the last years of her life in long term care.
Her family wishes to Thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Red Deer Hospital for the compassionate care she received in her final days.
Her spirit dances on.
