Ellajean Gingrich Jones – Oct 2, 1932 – November 15, 2024.

It is with great sadness that the family of Ellajean Gingrich Jones announces her peaceful passing at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Friday, Nov 15th, 2024, at the age of 92 years.

Ellajean was born in Peterborough, ON, but spent her formative years growing up in Vancouver, BC where she first met the love of her life, Harley, at a Vancouver Technical School “sock hop” in 1947, but it wasn’t until 1949 that they started dating, culminating in their marriage on September 22, 1951.

Family was important to Mom, and she showed it by offering love and guidance to all of us. Mom had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke. She will be missed, but fondly remembered by her family and friends.

Ellajean is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Harley, along with her 5 Children – Marilyn (Doug) Williamson, Brenda (Bill) MacDonald, Annette (Phil) Jensen, Barbara (Jim) Heinzlmeir, and Russell (Tracey) Jones, nine Grandchildren – Heather (Darin), Jeff (Belem), Eric (Ayesha), Garrett (Kelsey), Kurt, Michael (Rayna), Carla, Kristen (Josh), and Matthew, as well as 16 Great Grandchildren who she loved and adored. Mom was predeceased by her parents Clara and Clayton Gingrich, and is survived by brothers Ritch (Susan) Gingrich and Bob (Blanche) Gingrich.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Optima -Aspen Ridge, as well as the Doctors and Nurses of Unit 32 Palliative Care at RDRHC, for their care and support.

A private celebration of life for family and close friends will be held Saturday, November 23. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Red Deer Regional Health Foundation.
