Elizabeth Bloom (ne; Rogers) was born May 15, 1922 in Lethbridge to Harris and Gladys Rogers. Mom was very musical and sang with her older sister Aileen as the two little Red Deer’s. She also played the piano her whole life.
When WWII came, Mom did her duty as a teletype operator. Here she made many lifelong friends. When the war ended, Mom met the love of her life, Cyril Bloom. They married and had two children, Wendy (Wayne Russell) and Roger (Debbie) Bloom. She had 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, with one more on the way.
Mom worked alongside Dad at Bloom’s Hardware in Sylvan Lake until it was sold, and they began an early retirement together until Cyril passed away in 1981. After Cyril’s passing, Mom began a new phase of her life going back to college, buying a condo in Victoria, and taking numerous trips.
Mom was a very strong woman who never complained and always tried to see the best in everyone and every situation. We will miss her dearly, but know that she has left us a great legacy of love and good advice.
Rest in Peace Mom, you’ve earned it.
