In loving memory of my mom, Elaine Garnet. We are saddened to announce her passing on February 3, 2022 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital in Red Deer, Alberta.
Thank you, Mom, for all your hard work and determination. I would not be where I am today, if it wasn’t for you. I realized that you have made me into a great man, when it was my turn to read to you “Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch on your last day. You always said to me one day it would be my turn and then you knew your job as a mom would be complete.
One of Mom’s closest friends said with nothing but love in her last days, “You are one of the most stubborn and independent woman that I know.” Everyone close will laugh and appreciate that comment.
Most of her friends will remember my Mom from her business, doing scientific research and experimental development claims in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. She had three university degrees, one college diploma and spoke Mandarin and Korean. She passed on so much knowledge to others and helped me so many times with my academics.
One of Mom’s most memorable experiences was having a story published in South Korea, by Dr. Young G. Kim. It was read by children in middle school, when they took moral studies. It is also being published in a textbook at the University of Waterloo. Please see the link to her story: http://dcorks.blogspot.com/2011/11/elaines-story.html?m=1
My Mom’s favourite place was her Rocky Mountains in Alberta. We will be going to Lake O’Hara to give my mom a final farewell in the summer. Anyone is welcome to join.
I will miss our conversations and I will love you for eternity.
“As long as I am living, my mommy you’ll be.”
Thank You,
Eric
