Edward "Ed" Simpson McRobbie

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Edward “Ed” McRobbie announces his passing on July 14, 2025 at the age of 84 years.
Born in Scotland with an adventurous spirit, Ed came to Canada at the age of 17. Through his determination, strength and dry wit he proceeded to build a life in a new country. Along his journey he met his future wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Linklater. Together the pair raised their six children in Red Deer, AB. Many will remember Ed from his days working for Maple Leaf Mills, Triple M, Great West Feeds and Vitara or from his infectious smile when bowling, curling and especially golfing. Although recent health issues had slowed Ed down, and the family endured the heartbreaking loss of beloved sons, Derald and Ken McRobbie, his strength and courage saw him through. Edward’s memory will live on in the memories we cherish and the stories we share.
Ed will be deeply missed by his wife, Betty; 3 daughters, Cheryl (Gregg), Dawna (Glenn) and Valerie (Tim); son, Kevin (Tamsin); 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; extended families in several countries and the many friends he made throughout the years.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date, with service information to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Lung Association in Ed’s honour would be appreciated. Condolences to Ed’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net . Please indicate “Edward McRobbie” in the subject line.
