In Loving memory of
Dr. Michael Allan Dolynchuk, DDS
1961-2025
It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Dr. Michael Dolynchuk, DDS. Also known as Mike to many. A dentist to thousands, a friend to hundreds, a mentor to many, and admired and respected by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Michael was a true gentleman, and his smile, kindness, and generosity touched many lives. His dedication to excellence and passion for dentistry led him to build successful dental offices across Central Alberta, creating long-lasting, beautiful smiles for his many patients.
Michael was born on July 6,1961, in Winnipeg to Marian (nee Bachynski) and Nestor Dolynchuk. He grew up in Winnipeg and after high school, he followed his brother Mark’s footsteps and words of wisdom “move west young man”, and Michael left Winnipeg and made Red Deer his home. At the age of 19, Michael worked in the oil patch as a roughneck, quickly rising to become a driller. However, from a young age, Michael knew he wanted to be a dentist. He was an entrepreneur at heart and had a car lot with his brother Mark and friend Ami. He traded his drilling on the rigs to dental drilling. With an entrepreneurial spirit inherited from his father and a deep desire to help people with their dental health, Michael shifted his focus to dentistry. He completed his science degree at Red Deer Polytechnic and graduated from the University of Alberta, School of Dentistry in 1995. Michael supported himself through dentistry by working at the Keg and he maintained special long-lasting friendships with his Keg friends.
After earning his dental degree, Michael returned to the city he loved, Red Deer and began his career in dentistry. Over the years, he built several dental practices: Denta Care, Appleway, Alpen, Caroline, and Dolynchuk Dental Centre in Red Deer, providing exceptional care to countless individuals. Michael had a brilliant creative mind, he developed and designed dental patents. Although Michael loved Alberta, he never forgot his Winnipeg roots when it came to sports, Go Jets Go, and Let’s Go Bombers!
Michael loved music, nature, golf, the outdoors, lake life, flying, and his beloved Westies. His passion for life and commitment to his patients left an indelible mark on the community.
Michael is survived by his beloved daughter Jasmin (Josh) of (Edmonton), brothers Mark (Darline) of Red Deer, Ken (Lucy) of Winnipeg, and nieces and nephews. Michael further leaves to mourn and to keep his spirit alive: his cherished friends: Ami, Kevin (KT), Dan, Janet, Erin, Andrew, Rob (RT), Dwayne, Steve T., Andy H., Brian, Steve B., Mike, Wes, Bob, Andy C, and Daria along with his dedicated dental team. He passed away knowing that he was loved by all who knew him.
Michael is predeceased by his parents, Mother Marian Dolynchuk, Father Nestor Dolynchuk and stepfather Frank Slowzowski, his grandparents Anna and Joseph Bachynski, Irene and Nicholas Dolynchuk, and his late wife Barbara Dolynchuk (Woitas).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Michael’s memory to Street Church Red Deer (www.streetchurchreddeer.ca) to help and support those of Red Deer in need. Alternatively, Michael would be honored if you took care of your own dental health and maintained regular check-ups in his memory.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Red Deer Regional Hospital for their excellent and extraordinary care during Michael’s brief illness. They are true angels in the medical field.
A heartfelt thankyou to Karla at Eventide Funeral Home for her compassionate caring.
