Dorene (Dorothy Irene) Helmer  Nee Fribance

August 20, 1929 – November 30, 2022

Dorene (Dorothy Irene) nee Fribance was born August 20, 1929. Dorene peacefully passed away at the age of 93 on November 30, 2022 surrounded by family and friends.

She was born in Tofield, Alberta and lived in Fort McLeod until the age of 6, then moved to Calgary.

After graduating from Western Canada High School she married John Ivan Helmer on September 10, 1949

and lived in Saskatchewan for 10 years during the start of the oil boom.

They then relocated to Alberta living in Grimshaw, Sherwood Park, Red Deer and eventually settling in Calgary where they enjoyed their many friends and family for years. Her loving husband John, died in 2003.

She was a member of the Oil Well Service Wive’s Club and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 15 years. A long lasting source of pleasure was her family and friends, music, gardening, and volunteering. She also enjoyed playing bridge and crib with her friends at Dana Village (Calgary), Timberstone Mews and Revera (Red Deer).

She will be sadly missed by her children Denise (Jim) Harrigan, Gary (Debra) Helmer, Kevin (Penny) Helmer and many loving grandchildren and great grand children.
