Doreen Gayle Hitchings (nee Owston)
February 11, 1941 – October 3, 2022
Doreen was born and raised in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan where she met her husband Ron. They were married in July 9, 1959 and moved to Saskatoon. During this time Doreen worked for Sask Tel while Ron went to University. They moved to Regina where Rob taught while Doreen continued to work for Sask Tel.
In 1963 they decided to move to Red Deer and continued to live there until her passing.
Doreen went to Red Deer College where she obtained a diploma in Social Services. She worked at Michener Centre for eighteen years. She enjoyed working with the residents and was able to see the best in each and every one of them.
She was epiphany of a real lady and a role model for her friends and family. She talked and dressed the part, always wearing the finest matching outfits and shoes. She was a fashion icon.
Doreen was very creative in many ways; one of her hobbies was making cards for all occasions and worked on interior design. She was avid reader and spent many hours pondering over her books. She enjoyed bridge and became a very good player.
She was predeceased by her mom and dad, Gordon and Mar and her two brothers, Clark and Gerry and son in-law, Kelly.
She is survived be her husband Ron, of 63 years, her sister Connie Mae, two Children – Rhonda and Todd (Colette), four grand children, Courtney (Warren), Jordan, Emma and Eli and her four great-grand children Deshaun, Adrian, Amaya and Easton.
She passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital and we would like to thank them for their care.
She spent the last three years at the Hamlets and we would like to thank them for all the attention and support they gave both her and her husband Ron.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 1p.m. at Eventide Funeral Home.
