Dianna Laurel Schultz (nee Barritt)

Dianna Laurel Schultz (nee Barritt), peacefully passed away on October 1, 2017 at the Red Deer Hospice. Dianna was born in July, 1938 on the family farm near Mirror, AB. In Sept. 1956, Dianna joined the RCAF and was stationed in St. Jean, PQ. She served as a Fighter Control Operator and was honorably discharged in Oct. 1958. She returned home to the farm. The following year, on Aug. 1, 1959, she married Norval Schultz, of Bashaw, AB. Dianna lived in many communities throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan, but spent the last 45 years living and raising their family in Red Deer. Dianna & Norval celebrated their 50th anniversary, with a trip to Canada’s East Coast, before a car accident claimed Norval’s life on Christmas Eve 2009. Dianna’s greatest loves were her family and friends, books, travel, baseball, live theatre (especially musicals), and volunteer work. Dianna will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her children Mark (Andrea Ashley) of Calgary, AB, Noranna (Wayne Krebs) Schultz-Krebs of Sylvan Lake, AB, Teena (Jason Leach) Edmundson of Suwanee, GA; grandchildren Trevor (Heather Millette) Edmundson, Dawn Summer Langerak, Connor (Shayla Radtke) Krebs, Heidi Krebs & great-granddaughter Michaela Rutledge-Taylor; step-grandchildren Dustin & Nicole Edmundson; her siblings Warren (Laura) Barritt, Velma Sutley, Gail Sutley, Brian (Marlene) Barritt; sister-in-law Brenda (Jack) Verboone; god-daughter Shauna Boden; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends. Dianna was predeceased by her husband, Norval; parents, Ward & Vera Barritt; in-laws, Atz & Minnie Schultz; brother-in-law, Ben Sutley and many other relatives. A funeral service will be held at the Gaetz Memorial United Church, 4758 – Ross St., Red Deer, AB on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 – Arnot Avenue, Red Deer AB T4R 3S6 or to The Lending Cupboard Society, 5406 C – 43 St., Red Deer AB T4N 1C9.
