Diane Joy Bishop

Diane Joy Bishop passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 77 years old, surrounded by loved ones.
She is survived by her daughter, Tara Dickey; granddaughters, Skye Dickey, Shinara Dickey and Janessa Dickey, neighbor, and best friend Joyce, many co-workers and lifelong friends at CSS. Diane is predeceased by parents, Murray and Joy Waddell and sister Jenette Adams.
Diane was an outgoing, confident, strong-willed, compassionate, caring women with a big heart. She was born and raised in Tauranga, New Zealand. Diane was involved in sports throughout her schooling in a women’s basket ball league.
Diane graduated secondary school in nursing. She married and started a family before making the move to Ponoka, Alberta. In Ponoka, Diane worked for the Diagnostic Lab, for many years. She was part of a women’s baseball league and also taught children’s baseball. She was involved wit the Ponoka Legion, past president and vice president and would help cater many events.
Then she went onto working with the Catholic Social Services until her retirement. A few years into working with CSS, Diane moved from Ponoka to Red Deer where she met life long friends in her community.
She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of life will be held at Eventide Funeral home on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 1 p.m. Reception to follow at her granddaughter’s house.
