Denise Ivy (nee Spelrem) Schrauwen

Denise Ivy (nee Spelrem) Schrauwen passed away peacefully on January 27,
2026, after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by
her three loving daughters and family during her final days of life.
Denise was born on December 2, 1954, to Ivy and Bernie Spelrem in Calgary.
They later moved to Bashaw where Denise grew up with her three siblings,
Darlene Oslanski, Allan Spelrem and Trish Swain.
After, Denise graduated from Bashaw High School and went on to study
nursing in Edmonton at the Alberta Vocational College. Once she graduated
from nursing school, she worked in the field for over 30 years. She had a very
fulfilling career and made many friends working in long term care.
When Denise was in her teenage years, she met the love of her life Arthur
Schrauwen and began dating. They later got married on May 4, 1974. Denise
and Art had three beautiful daughters Tamara, Jennifer, and Christina. They
moved to Red Deer in 1984 and raised their family there. Denise and Art loved
camping and being outdoors. They took the girls on many camping trips across
Canada.
Denise enjoyed many hours with her grandkids Halle, Ashlee, Carlee, Ivy and
Luke. She also loved spending time and socializing with the many friends she
made throughout her life. Denise volunteered her time to many different
organizations.
Denise was predeceased by her parents Ivy and Bernie Spelrem, her husband
Arthur Schrauwen. She was survived by Tamara (Ronnie), Jennifer (Jason),
Christina (Matthew), her grandkids, siblings and many treasured friends.
Services will be held at Eventide Funeral Home on Friday February 6th at 11:00
