Deborah Jean Leforte (née Sixtus), of Barrie, Ontario, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on December 12, 2025, at the age of 73 years.
Debbie was born in Red Deer, Alberta. As she often described herself, she grew up as an “Army brat,” moving frequently during her childhood. She later moved to Toronto, Ontario, where she earned her Master’s degree from York University. It was in Toronto that she met the love of her life, Fred (“Chubby”) Leforte. Their relationship was a true inspiration a deep and enduring love that will be cherished and told for many years to come.
Debbie dedicated her career to education, becoming a beloved teacher in Barrie. She inspired countless students and colleagues throughout her years of service. She is now at peace, reunited with Fred.
Debbie will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Caitlin Elizabeth Leforte Fabian (Austin-Norbert) and Danielle Wendt (Jeremy); her grandchildren: Lucy, Harriet, and Archie; her niece: April Leforte(Richard); and dear friends: Jean Booker and Patricia Shanahan.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, time and date to be announced.
