Deb Tait of Red Deer passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice on October 12, 2020 at the age of 67.
Deb was born on October 17, 1953 in Rocky Mountain House to Eleanor and George Benz. She married her husband Lance on November 24, 1973. Over the next couple of years Deb and Lance welcomed their two sons Aaron and Joe. As a family they enjoyed many years of horseback riding, camping and skiing in the mountains.
Deb always put the needs of others before her own and made everyone in her presence feel loved. Aaron and Joe’s friends held a special place in Deb’s heart and they could always count on an open door and a spot at the dinner table. Deb was a dedicated grandmother who loved spending time with her grandson Dominique. Watching Dominique play baseball and cheering him on was something Deb loved to do.
Deb was passionate about working with children and had a gift of helping others. In 1998 Deb started working as an EA with Red Deer Public School District. She spent many years working as a speech and language specialist. In 2016 she decided to retire so she could spend more time with her grandchildren Ella and Myer. Their days were spent baking, sewing and gardening. The memories they made and the lessons she taught them will be forever ingrained in their hearts.
Deb’s last couple of months were spent at the Red Deer Hospice, where she quickly became friends with many of the staff members there. The family is eternally grateful for the care and compassion that Deb received.
Deb leaves behind her husband of 46 years, Lance, two sons Aaron (Krista) and Joseph (Lauren), and her grandchildren Dominique (Justine), Ella and Myer. She will also be sadly missed by her entire extended family and all of her friends.
Deb lived a life full of grace and kindness, her family and friends meant everything to her. A celebration of her life will be held in the summer of 2021.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Deb may be made to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 Arnot Ave, Red Deer AB, T4R 3S6, or online at https://www.reddeerhospice.com.
Condolences to Deb’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net.
