David (Dave) Deas

David (Dave) Deas passed away on August 28, 2026, after a short and brave fight with cancer. Dave was born in October 1958, to John and Martha Deas; he was one of four children, alongside siblings John, Bonnie, and Heather.
On May 17, 1980, Dave married Carolyn on Vancouver Island, beginning a marriage that would last for decades. Dave’s pride in family and community were two of his favorite things to talk about — and boy, did he like to talk.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Carolyn; his children, Trista (Matthew) Beamish and Jamie Deas; his grandchildren, Emily, April, Aleena, and Jerod Beamish, and Ashley Deas; and his surviving sibling, Bonnie; as well as his nephews and cousins.
He will also be dearly missed by the many friends and community members who will miss his willingness to share a chat and his famous pancake-flipping skills, earned over 15+ years of volunteering to feed his community.
Dave would want everyone to take a minute to notice the little things, and to help make every day a beautiful one.
A Celebration of Life will be held in memory of Dave at the Alix Community Hall on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 11:00am, with a special pancake lunch to follow the service.
Condolences to Dave’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate “Dave Deas” in the subject line.
