It is with deep sadness that the family of Darrell George Goruk announce his sudden passing at the age of 73 on Sunday, December 7, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer.
Darrell will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Katherine Goruk, and his brothers, Dennis and Bernie Goruk. He is also survived by his devoted wife, Nenita Molina Goruk, whose care and companionship brought comfort and joy to his life.
He leaves behind his children, who were a source of immense pride: Lenimae Yanulik (Chad), Jenniefer Thomas (Steve), David Goruk (Kaleena), and Krista Baker (Paul). Darrell was a beloved grandfather to Braedon, Wyatt, Brianna, Kayleigh, Kamrynne, Paige, Noelle, and Riley.
He was predeceased by his father, George Goruk and sister-in-law, Carole Goruk.
Darrell will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. His determination, strong willed personality, sharp wit, and his devotion to his family is what he will be remembered for.
Funeral Service:
A funeral service will be held at Red Deer Funeral Home & Celebration Centre,
6150 67th Street, Red Deer, Alberta, on Saturday December 13, 2025.
A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
A luncheon will follow the service.
Interment:
Interment will take place at Alto Reste Cemetery,
26575 AB-11, Red Deer County, immediately following the luncheon.
Darrell’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations can be made to Hockey Fights Cancer in his memory. As many know, Darrell was a lifelong Edmonton Oilers hockey fan.
