Danny Nile Gaff
1955 – 2026
With sadness in our hearts, the family announces the passing of Danny Nile Gaff on July 29, 2026.
Danny Nile Gaff was born on November 26, 1955, in Maple Creek Saskatchewan, to Nile and Tilly Gaff. Growing up, Danny spent time working on the family farm in Carstairs, Alberta, where he developed an appreciation for farm life and hard work.
From a young age, Danny enjoyed sports and had a special passion for baseball and hockey, interests that stayed with him throughout his life.
For over 45 years, Danny’s work kept him busy on the road as a long-haul truck driver, travelling countless miles and crossing borders along the way. He was deeply dedicated to the company he worked for, Legends Oilfield, and formed lasting relationships with all the people there. They became extended family to him, and those friendships meant a great deal.
Danny was also naturally mechanically inclined and had a knack for working on vehicles. He was often happiest with his busy hands driving, fixing, repairing and tinkering on vehicles no matter big or small.
One of Danny’s proudest moments was becoming a grandfather for the first time in 2000. He was so excited to take on this new role, and over the years his family grew to include 9 grandchildren. Being a grandpa brought him tremendous joy and being able to spend time with them was something he treasured. Danny also took great pride in being an uncle and a great uncle. All his nieces and nephews were an important part of his life, and being their uncle was another family role that he held close to his heart. He shared a special love and unconditional bond with the mother of his children; a connection built over the years with the family they shared together.
Family Reunions and family gatherings were especially important to Danny. He looked forward to family reunions, where he could reconnect, visit, laugh and make memories with those he loved. Christmas was another special time for him, bringing his family together to enjoy traditions. As family grew over the years, these gatherings became even more meaningful, especially with his children and grandchildren around him.
He enjoyed playing games with family and friends, with crib being a particular favorite. He also loved camping and the simple pleasure of sitting around a fire, listening to the crackle, enjoying the company of those round him. Throughout the years, Danny had a love for travelling and experiencing new places. Whether travelling with others or setting out on an adventure on his own, he enjoyed the freedom of the journey and discovering somewhere new. He especially loved warm destinations, where he could slow down, soak up the sunshine and enjoy the pleasure of being in the water.
Danny will be remembered for his hardworking and dedicated nature, his love of the open road, a good card game and above all, the love he had for his family and friends. The relationships he built throughout his life meant so much to him, and the memories, laughter, and the love he shared with those closest to him will live on in their hearts and will be cherished for years to come. Danny will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory are his surviving loved ones, the beloved mother of his children Brenda of Red Deer, his four daughters Francine of Leduc and her children Tegan and Rylan; Chaylene (Josh) of Red Deer and their children Mac, Brendan, Summer, Skye; Mistine of Red Deer and her son Daylen; Lacene of Red Deer and her children Tyson and Kylie. He is also survived by sisters Karen (Denis) of Red Deer; Sister Cathy (Josh) of Medicine Hat along with 7 nieces and 4 nephews, and 9 great nieces and 6 great nephews. Danny was predeceased by his daughter Codiene Jane and his parents Nile and Tilly Gaff.
