With great sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Constance Lorene Homme, known to all that loved her as “Rene”. Rene was born Red Deer on Sept 17, 1936 to John and Mae Davidson. She grew up in the Haynes area on the family farm. Rene attended Olds College in the mid 50’s as well as business school in Red Deer. She worked at the Bank of Montreal in Red Deer from 1958 to 1966.
She met Mel Homme in 1957 and they were married in 1960 and settled in the Red Deer area and eventually in Red Deer in the same home they lovingly shared until her passing.
Rene could always be found enjoying a cup of coffee, visiting with neighbours and friends and working on jigsaw puzzles. Rene was very talented with crocheting and many of her afghans that she made still adorn her home and the homes of her family.
Rene is survived by her loving husband Melvin Homme, 2 children Debbie and her husband Mark Steeves of Trail BC, Don Homme and his wife Colleen of Red Deer, 4 grandchildren Andrew and Aksel Steeves of Trail BC , Paige Homme of Camrose and Steaven Homme of Red Deer as well as one brother and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and many numerous family members.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to all the friends, neighbours, caregivers and physicians that cared for Rene in her final days. Particularly the staff at the Red Deer hospital and Unit 22. Your kindness and compassionate care of Rene is greatly appreciated by the family.
A private family graveside service will be held, and a memorial will be held at a later date once restrictions have been relaxed.
If desired in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lending Cupboard in Red Deer or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
