It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved parents Malvern (Mal) and Colleen Sutton
Malvern (Mal) Andrew Sutton was born in Fort William Thunder Bay, Ontario on October 28, 1947. He grew up with 3 siblings brothers, Harry (Linda) Sutton, James (Jimmy) Sutton and a sister, Marjorie Sutton. Mal passed on September 20, 2021 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. He is predeceased by his parents Malvern and Lyola Sutton.
Colleen Lorraine Sutton (nee Krolick) was born May 6, 1950 in Sudbury, Ontario. Colleen grew up in a large family of six siblings. She is survived by her sister Darlene, brother Glenn (Barbara) brother Albert John, Tracy (Dan) Tammi, and her sister in law Dee Krolick. Colleen passed away September 28, 2021 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. She was predeceased by her brothers Blaine and Kirby and parents Albert and Dorothy Krolick.
Mal loved the outdoors, he landscaped for many years with his brother Jimmy and young brother in laws.
He made sure the yard was always immaculate and lush, full of beauty and tranquility. His goal was always to head west to Alberta to join his kids and their families who he loved so much. He also wanted to enjoy some of the camping everyone talked about so much. He was able to fulfill his dream of moving out west, for that we are grateful.
Colleen had a thirst for knowledge on world events and loved to discuss politics. Her home though was where her heart was. Beautifully decorated and always full of home goodness. Her favourite times of the year were the fall and Christmas time, she decorated the family home beautifully. True to her roots Colleen was passionate about nature. Everything about it called to her, the forest, the creatures, the beauty, the sky and especially the water. She had a way with words and could describe it so eloquently as only she could. A lot of her summers were spent in Thunder Bay and she was so passionate about Lake Superior and its beauty and always held a special place in her heart.
Malvern (Mal) and Colleen met when Colleen was in grade 8 and became childhood sweethearts who married in October 1968. On June 2nd 1980 they welcomed their first child Aaron and to complete their family of four Ashley was born on the 20th of September 1985.
Mal and Colleens love for their children was unbreakable. Their tight knit family of four had a strong bond and did everything together. Missing their children Mal and Colleen moved from Ontario to Alberta April 2021 to be closer to their children and their families.
Mal and Colleen were very passionate about animals especially dogs and horses. Their love for dogs has been many over the years. Most recently the Schnauzer breed was their favourite, their Giant Schnauzer “Bear” passed in 2017 and Mal kept a shrine with Bears ashes. Their most recent addition, and light of their lives, their four-year-old miniature schnauzer Auggie. He is being lovingly welcomed into their sons’ home and has made a smooth transition, don’t worry we will take great care of him.
Mal and Colleen enjoyed entertaining and bringing people to their table with many a fantastic gourmet meal. Their meals will forever be unmatched. You never left their table hungry and always with a container of leftovers. Every time they cooked, Mal would exclaim “It’s all f**king ruined!!”, their kids eventually had a sign made for them for their kitchen because it was such a regular statement (it was never actually ruined).
Tragically their dream of being together as a family was short lived as their beloved daughter Ashley was suddenly taken from us far too soon. A tragedy Mal and Colleen never really recovered from.
Left to carry on their spirit is their loving son Aaron (Tariann), their daughter Nikkisha, Ashleys loving husband Cody, their son George along with their many relatives, nieces, nephews and friends.
