It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Cliff Matheson Proctor on March 26, 2024.
Cliff was predeceased by his parents, John and Olive and his sister, Eunice Porter. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marie, son Barry (Ilona), grandchildren Britany (Devin), Dylan (Shanaye) and great-grandchildren Jayce, Kierra, Tori and Aiden. As well as many nieces, nephews, friends and Toby.
Cliff was born February 20, 1942 in Calgary, AB, later adopted by John & Olive Proctor of Torrington, AB. He attended Torrington School till the age of 17, when he went to work as a roughneck for Brinkerhoff Drilling. He continued in the oil and gas industry for his entire career, which included 6 years of offshore drilling around the world. Cliff started in the North Sea, then the Adriatic Sea, Red Sea and had the opportunity to take the first drilling rig through the Suez Canal. He then continued to Brazil drilling off the coast of Rio De Janeiro and then on to the Persian Gulf. Finishing his offshore drilling career on the east coast of Canada.
Cliff then returned to Alberta and started his own business, OK Rathole Drilling with 2 partners who became great friends. He enjoyed this endeavor until his retirement in 1994. His retirement was filled with traveling, salmon fishing in BC and watching his grandson, Dylan play hockey.
Cliff was an avid Model T & Model A car collector; he started his collection in 1980 with a 1930 Model A coupe. He then went on to collect 11 more cars, his prize possession was his 1909 Model T Touring Car. Cliff and Marie travelled all over North America with the Model T Ford Club of Canada. They especially enjoyed dressing up in time period clothing, attending parades and car shows.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 18 at 1:30 pm at The Salvation Army Church and Community Ministries, 4837 54 St, Red Deer, AB.
The family is sincerely grateful to the staff of the Red Deer Hospice for their care during Cliff’s last few months.
