Cheryl Anne Thiessen
Cheryl passed away peacefully on October 23, 2022, surrounded by family at the Red Deer Regional Hospital at the age of 69. Cheryl is lovingly remembered by her husband Larry, daughters Melanie and Kimberly, as well as her siblings, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Cheryl was born on February 27, 1953 to Anne and William Kardos. She was the eldest of 7 children, who were all raised in Nelson BC. Cheryl moved to Alberta where she met Larry, they married in Red Deer on August 31, 1985. They welcomed two beautiful daughters, Melanie Lynn (1987) and Kimberly Anne (1992). Every summer Cheryl and her family would make trips back to Nelson to visit family; many happy memories were created while enjoying time at the beach.
Cheryl was best known for her nurturing spirit, and kind and gentle heart. She greeted everyone with excitement and gave the best hugs. Her smile and laughter warmed every room she was in, and she made everyone feel welcome. She enjoyed spending her time with various craft activities, cooking, and sharing all of this with her loving family. Cheryl shared her love of gardening with her daughter Kimberly. As an avid scrap-booker she has created beautiful scrapbooks of special life events, holidays, and vacations. She also never turned down a good crossword puzzle.
Services will be held at St. Mary’s Parish on Monday, November 7 at 11:00 AM. Internment to follow at Alto Reste Cemetery, Red Deer.
The family is sincerely grateful to everyone who provided exceptional care for Cheryl at the Red Deer Regional Hospital during her stay.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada in memory of Cheryl.
