It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear sister, aunt, great-aunt, Cecile, of Lacombe, Alberta on February 23, 2021.
Cecile was born in February 1949 in Port Alberni, BC to Alfred and Germaine Brunet. When her parents moved to Debden, Saskatchewan, Cecile enjoyed growing up with her eight siblings. In the early ’70s, she moved with her family to Red Deer, Alberta. There, she became involved with Cosmos, where she made many friends. Later, Cecile was tickled pink to earn her first pay cheque, working as janitor for Kipp Scott GMC Buick.
Cecile also enjoyed volunteering at the Parkland Humane SPCA, and was awarded Volunteer of the Month in January 1991. She had many hobbies, including skating, dancing and socializing. Cecile loved spending time with family and friends. A social butterfly, Cecile always looked forward to seeing and meeting new people.
Cecile is predeceased by her niece, Jennifer, and her parents Fred and Germaine. She leaves to mourn four brothers, Ray, Maurice, Norman, and Lawrence; four sisters, Genevieve, Jocelyn, Yvette, and Madeleine; along with their respective families and many nieces and nephews.
Cecile will be missed by many, including her friends and caregivers.
The Brunet family would like to thank and convey immense gratitude to the Action Group’s many staff as well as Dr. Elliot and Dr. Darnell and the Red Deer Hospice Society for Cecile’s much needed and deserved health care.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private graveside service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be forwarded to the Central Alberta Humane Society, 4505 77 Street, Red Deer AB, T4P 2J1; or online here.
Condolences for Cecile’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net.
