Bruce James “Jim” Ritchot of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at Red Deer Regional Hospital on February 7, 2026, at the age of 81 years.
Jim was born on May 26, 1944, in Brandon, Manitoba, to Alice Ritchot (Funk). He was a hardworking man who made friends everywhere he went. Jim spent most of his working life at the Fletcher Meat Plant. Over the years, he also delivered milk, drove taxi, and worked as a bouncer at the Windsor and several other establishments.

Jim will be lovingly remembered by his son, Brent Balog of Lacombe; his two daughters, Dani (Mark) Zubkowski of Camrose and Odell Williams of Red Deer; his grandchildren, K.J. Striker, Josef (April) Zubkowski, Ashley Zubkowski, and Katy Balog; and his great-grandchildren, Brynlee, Beckham, and Summer. He also held a special place in his heart for his nephew, Reese Lucky.
He will be dearly remembered by his children, his nephew, his special friend Audrey Williams and family, as well as the many friends he made throughout his life.
As per Jim’s request, there will be no public service.
