Brian Harry Smart
January 1946 – August 20, 2024
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Smart at home in Delburne, Alberta on Tuesday, August 20 at the age of 78 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Brian was born in Calgary, Alberta. He was the second oldest of four children born to Margaret and Peter Smart. He is survived by sister Shirley (Lyle) Brown of Vulcan, brother Calvin Smart of Vulcan, sister Valerie Smart of Edmonton, children; Denyce Smart of Delburne, Kevin (Lana) Smart of Vernon, B.C., Theresa Smart of Calgary; grandchildren Adam and Daniel.
Brian grew up in Delburne and Innisfail and lived in Calgary, Airdrie, Edmonton and Lousana. He worked for several companies: Alberta Government Telephone Company, NL McCullough Oilfield Services and D & D Safety Services. He was a partner in C & D Fire & Safety for several years prior to his semi retirement.
He took pleasure scuba diving, fishing and camping in his modified boat and RV. He thoroughly enjoyed riding off road motorcycles in the backwoods of Kamloops, B.C. and Nordegg. Brian was a small rancher, builder, welder, wood worker, fabricator and jack of all trades. No task was too big for him to accomplish.
Brian’s grandchildren brought many moments of joy into his life and allowed him to pass on his extensive life knowledge and experience. He will also be missed by his beloved dog, Fred who was his constant companion and best buddy.
Brian’s life touched many, and he will be remembered in different ways by those who knew him. As per his wishes, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Central Alberta Humane Society.
He will also be missed by his beloved dog, Fred who was his constant companion and best buddy.
